Live updates from our reporter Stan Smith at Old Trafford as Manchester United host Arsenal in the Premier League.

Amorim admits he does not want to play so defensively

Amorim on his Man Utd side’s approach today, speaking to Sky Sports: “Of course we don’t want to play like this defending so much and giving the ball to the opponent.

“When you coach Manchester United, you cannot play too much like that. You have to try to win the game. I know it is frustrating for the fans sometimes. We have to deal with that and sometimes do things that are not popular.”

Arteta left frustrated

Arteta speaking to the BBC: “Very frustrating we haven’t won with the dominance and the chances we had in the first half. We gave the ball away out of nothing. Gave a foul away. We had them in the second half, you could feel they were really fatigued.

“It was the threat in the final 25 metres to make something happen. They didn’t want to play. You come here and you want to win the game. Today, it is frustration.”

Arteta cuts short interview

In his post-match interview with Sky Sports, Arteta clearly felt he had been asked enough questions. He began to walk off but when pulled back by the reporter for one more question about the title race, would not give an answer and left the interview.

Full time verdict

It was a good performance from Ruben Amorim’s side. The Reds have been best suited to playing as underdogs during his tenure and that was the case again today. United had the better chances in the match and should have scored more than one but a draw is not a bad result.

Mikel Arteta’s team dominated possession but they struggled to be productive with the ball for long stretches. This is not a surprise given their attacking absentees. Arsenal also had chances to win the game but they will also accept a point after trailing for so long.
