Live updates from the Etihad Stadium as Manchester City take on Coventry.
“We’re not going to win (all) games in an easy way, not all the wins are going to be nice. Sometimes you need to win games in ugly ways.”
Maresca on his new signing Iliman Ndiaye’s debut: “Ili [Ndiaye] just had two sessions. He needs to understand how to move. Most of the time he was moving the wrong way, wrong position. But again, he needs to learn, and for sure he’s going to learn.”
City get across the line and take all three points. Maresca’s side never found the second goal and really took their foot off the gas in the final 30 minutes or so. Nevertheless, they got away with it today.
Plenty of positives for Lampard and Coventry today. After two disappointing results, today was much improved, however it is still a third defeat in three.
Khusanov gives away a free-kick and receives a yellow card.
One last chance for Coventry to send the ball forward.
Anywhere will do for City, as they succesfully defend a flurry of Coventry set-pieces.
We are into the final moments now.
Youngster McAidoo is causing real problems down the right-hand side since coming on.
He is fouled a couple of times by Pinnock, who receives a yellow card.
Five minutes of injury time have been added on.
It could be a nervy 300 seconds for Maresca and his side.
Ndiaye is unable to continue and is taken off.
McAidoo is sent on.
Hamer replaces DaSilva in Coventry’s final change.
Meanwhile, Ndiaye is down for City and needs treatment.
It comes to Simms inside the penalty area but at point-blank range, Donnarumma makes a very important stop.

After a bit of a scramble it drops to Foden, but his strike is cleared off the line.
Fernandez receives a warm reception as he is withdrawn.
Bouaddi comes on to make his debut at the Etihad.
Simms replaces Awoniyi, and Thomas-Asante is on for Mason-Clark.
Lampard’s side sense they could have an opportunity in the final 20 minutes here.
A loose tackle in the middle of the park plays the ball into the path of Tchaouna. He strikes well at goal but Donnarumma makes a good save.
The longer the game remains the same, the more the visitors’ belief grows that they could knick something here.
Maresca also decides to utilise his bench.
Foden comes on in place of Cherki.
Lampard decides to make a double substitution.
Rudoni and Onyeka make way. Tchaouna and Yirenkyi are sent on.
The ball comes to Fernandez at the backpost, and he squares it for Haaland to tap home.
However, the flag goes straight up for offside and VAR quickly confirms the decision.
City are completely dominating here and still searching for a second goal.
Anderson, Cherki and others have tried their luck since the break, but none have tested Rushworth in the Coventry goal.
Cherki gets the second half back underway for the hosts.
No changes from either manager so far.
A strong showing from City, who are growing more comfortable under Maresca. The debutants, Ndiaye and Fernandez, have both done well, whilst fellow summer signing Anderson has been very impressive.
Coventry have had a few moments to offer encouragement and they do remain in the game. However, Lampard’s side have certainly been second-best throughout.
Cherki plays it through for Haaland, and it is a huge chance for the Norwegian to double City’s lead and his own tally.
However, Rushworth is able to make the save and keep Coventry in the game.
City are really starting to play some lovely football here, with Anderson, Fernandez and Cherki popping the ball around excellently in midfield.

A long throw-in from Coventry causes chaos in the City penalty area.
It comes to Rudoni at the backpost who heads well but Donnarumma is equal to it.
Fernandez drives forward and plays it to Cherki on the edge of the area.
The Frenchman gets his shot off and beats the goalkeeper, but it cannons off the post and out.
