Swansea City boss Vitor Matos says the club should be optimistic of securing a new deal with star man Ethan Galbraith.
The midfielder has been linked with a move away from the Swans this summer.
He is under contract until 2028, with the option of another year, but Swansea are keen to secure the longer term future of the talented 24-year-old.
“I think we need to be optimistic with everything,” Matos said.
“I think Gally (Galbraith) has a lot of things that we all love as a club, and I do as a manager – I like him a lot.
“So why not tie up the players you like for the future of the club? He is one of those. That’s what we are trying and negotiations are part of that. You speak with the agent, the agent speaks with the club and then let’s see.”
