LEEDS face a battle to sign Brighton defender Ben White on a permanent basis following their promotion to the Premier League.
The highly-rated centre back has been a star of Marcelo Bielsa’s defence and is one of the players Leeds have been tipped to sign this summer.
But Brighton boss Graham Potter has also been admiring the 22-year-old and said he is confident he can keep him on the south coast.
Potter said: “He’s our player, he’s got a long contract with us. I have known Ben for a while, I have been aware of him as I wanted to try and sign him when we were at Swansea.
“I know about his qualities. He’s a fantastic player. He’s done brilliantly at Leeds and helped them get promotion. That’s fantastic for them, fantastic for him but he’s our player and we’re looking forward to working with him.”
Speaking ahead of Brighton’s final match of the season, Potter also explained what he will add to Brighton’s squad.
He added: “He brings a different type of centre-back. He complements us really well. He’s got attributes that are really, really useful and he’s going to be a top player.”
