Man Utd have done ‘really well’ without Casemiro, claims Ten Hag

Erik Ten Hag insists Man Utd have proven that they can cope without Casemiro.

The midfielder will begin a four-game suspension on Sunday by missing the FA Cup clash with Fulham after receiving his second red card of the season in the goalless draw with Southampton.

Casemiro has already missed four games through suspension this season, including the 3-2 loss to Arsenal and 2-2 draw with Leeds, but Ten Hag believes his team are more than capable of winning without the former Real Madrid man.

“We had many more games without Casemiro. We did really well without Casemiro against Arsenal, Leeds and also at the start of the season but I want to have Casemiro available,” he explained.

“He has huge impact on our game.

“But we also won many games without Casemiro so he is not available, so we have to do with other players.”

United will be looking to reach Wembley for the second time this season by beating Fulham in the quarter final of the FA Cup, having already won the Carabao Cup.

And Ten Hag says his side’s triumph earlier in the season has spurred them on to win even more silverware.

“Of course it is huge motivation,” he said.

“We enjoyed winning a trophy and it has to be the fuel for the next one and push for that idea, and that has to bring extra energy to beat Fulham.

“We have to, after Sunday, set conclusions but we are now in three leagues competing and we want to stay in those, so Sunday is a massive game for us.”
