Moyes: Man Utd ‘climbing the ladder’ towards previous successes

West Ham United boss David Moyes says Erik Ten Hag deserves “a lot of credit” for turning around Man Utd this season, ahead of their FA Cup clash tomorrow.

Former Man Utd manager Moyes lasted less than a season at the club after taking over from Sir Alex Ferguson in 2013 following his retirement.

The club have enjoyed some success since Ferguson left the club, winning trophies under Jose Mourinho and Louis Van Gaal, but won their first since 2017 last week by beating Newcastle in the final of the Carabao Cup.

Current Man Utd boss Ten Hag has won plaudits for the job he has done at the club following a difficult start, and Moyes also believes he deserves the praise coming his way.

“I think he’s done a great job,” Moyes said.

“Manchester United are a side which are used to success and I think that Manchester United are climbing the ladder back up towards where they want to be.

“He has to get a lot of credit for the work he’s doing.”

But Ten Hag has warned his side that they cannot enjoy their recent success for too long.

“Of course yesterday, players were still enthusiastic and they had to celebrate,” he said.

“But after we settled down, we get back to work, and that’s what we had to do.”
