Transfer Talk – Thursday Jan 7

Sebastian Haller could be set for a cut-price exit from West Ham after reports from Holland that Ajax have offered around £20m for the Ivory Coast striker. Haller has failed to live up to expectations since being signed for £45m from Eintracht Frankfurt in 2019.

Crystal Palace are expected to go back in for Fenerbahce midfielder Ozan Tufan, 25. The Turkish side will accept an offer of around £13.5m, having rebuffed opening offers of less than £10m for the midfielder who has more than 50 caps for Turkey.

Tufan’s situation could be linked to Mesut Ozil’s, whose future is still likely to be away from Arsenal after the player’s agent continued talks with Fenerbahce, DC United and other clubs. Mikel Arteta confirmed this morning that he is happy for Ozil to leave Arsenal as long as the deal is right for the Gunners.

Arteta is also concerned that Folarin Balogun could leave Arsenal on a free transfer in the summer, having failed to convince the teenage striker to sign a new deal. Balogun’s contract expires in June and he is now free to speak to interested clubs.

Lazio are hoping to win the race to sign Manchester City’s Oleksandr Zinchenko. The 24-year-old Ukraninan is reportedly available for a loan deal, with a view to a £20m permanent transfer and reports in Italy claim Lazio are the front runners.
