‘We just have to deal with it’ – Klopp gives injury updates ahead of Luton and Carabao Cup final

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that he will be without several key players for Wednesday’s clash with Luton Town.

The league leaders beat Brentford 4-1 in their last outing but Curtis Jones and Diogo Jota both picked up injuries during the win, while Darwin Nunez was taken off at half-time as a precaution.

Klopp revealed Jota is set to be out for “months” with the knee injury he sustained while Jones has a bone ligament injury.

The pair join Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dominic Szoboszlai on the injury list, who remain out of action for the foreseeable future, with Alexander-Arnold and Szoboszlai the closest to returning to training.

But Klopp remained upbeat despite the absence of several key players ahead of the clash with Luton and the Carabao Cup final with Chelsea on Sunday.

“There are 5,000 ways to win a game, we just have to find one. Especially at home where we generate a dynamic where some players can grow above themselves and be the best version of themselves”, said Klopp.

“We have a situation now where it’d be better when we had no injuries but at the moment when you have the news, you just deal with it.

“We would like to say no issues, but we have some. That is the situation. What I said after the game, if we have 11, we will go for it and that is the idea.

“We still have options there, definitely, James McConnell or Bobby Clark, Lewis Koumas, Jayden Danns, massive talents, but we will see what we can do. We are planning for tomorrow.”
