Middlesbrough defender close to exit but signing in doubt

Middlesbrough defender Finley Munroe is set to join Blackpool on loan, but Boro’s signing of defender Ashley Phillips is in doubt.

Boro had agreed a deal to sign Phillips from Spurs for a fee which could eventually be worth around £20m.

But the deal has been put on hold for now with some issues arising which have prevented the signing from being finalised.

Boro are still hopeful of the deal going through but both sides are currently assessing their options.

Munroe, meanwhile, is undergoing a medical at Blackpool ahead of a season-long loan move.
