My players can handle quick turnarounds says Guardiola

Pep Guardiola says his Manchester City players recover well during congested fixture schedules, as the season is drawing towards its conclusion.

City played late on Wednesday evening against Aston Villa , before they travel to Selhurst Park to face Crystal Palace in the early kick off on Saturday.

Guardiola seemed unfazed by the fixture schedule, claiming he is used to it.

“We are used to playing every three days, people recover well. They handle (it), not all the time but most of the time they handle what they have to do”, said Guardiola.

“It is nothing much, I do not think it is (about) what is coming next, we play at 12:30, it is perfect.

“More time in to recover for the next game in Madrid, we played at eight on Wednesday which gives us time to recover for the Crystal Palace game.

“We play Chelsea next Saturday in the FA Cup after, it is not fair but we are going to do it. Next, adapt quick and try to do our job.”

City’s busy fixture schedule continues, with a two-legged Champions League quarter-final and an FA Cup semi-final coming up in the next fortnight.

During that period they still have to face Luton in the Premier League, as they hunt a fourth consecutive Premier League title.

Guardiola confirmed the possible changes to his team ahead of the Crystal Palace game is down to the physical conditions of the players, rather than tactical.

“We played less than two days and a half ago. Absolutely, it is physical. The faces of the players, how they recover quicker compared to the other players”, said the City boss.

“Some take more time, many aspects when you play a long week it is different, but a short week I have to speak to the doctors, my staff, and we will decided tonight or tomorrow morning.”
