Newcastle defender Tino Livramento has undergone surgery after pulling out of the England squad before the start of the World Cup.
Livramento was called up to Thomas Tuchel’s 26-man group before withdrawing ahead of the start of the competition with a calf injury.
Newcastle say they hope the 23-year-old will be able to return ahead of the upcoming Premier League campaign, however.
“Newcastle United can confirm that Tino Livramento has successfully undergone a minor surgical procedure,” the club said in a statement.
“The defender, who returned from World Cup duty with an injury, is expected to return during pre-season.
“Everyone at the club wishes Tino a smooth and speedy recovery.”
