Live updates from St James’ Park as Newcastle United host Leeds United.
Watch Eddie Howe’s reaction to today’s win below.
Oh my word! The referee’s final whistle draws the curtain on an instant Premier League classic. Leeds took the lead three times in the game, but Eddie Howe’s Newcastle would not surrender! Harvey Barnes take a bow, it’s not often you see a 102nd minute winner in the Premier League. St James’ Park is rocking, as it should be! Leeds put in a valiant performance, but as for now, it’s Newcastle and Harvey Barnes’ moment. Stay tuned for all the post-match reaction here.
OH MY WORD! What a game of football this is! Newcastle complete the comeback of dreams! Harvey Barnes stand and deliver! The ball falls to Barnes in the box, who swivels to perfection and squeezes the shot into the bottom corner. Perri gets a hand to it but it is not enough, and Newcastle take the lead! Harvey Barnes has just written his name into Newcastle folklore! What a game of football!
One last chance for Newcastle!
Murphy wins a free kick for Newcastle in the offensive half. This might be the last chance for the hosts, but it’s in a great position to cross into the box.
OFF: Gruev, Aaronson, Rodon
ON: Tanaka, Gnonto, Bornauw
We still have five minutes left in this game! The hosts are certainly the side looking to attack, as Leeds look set to make a triple substitution to sure up the defensive line.
We will have ten minutes added time here at St. James’ Park. There’s surely time for a winner here! What a crazy game!
Guimaraes converts from the spot! Could there be a winner here? What a game!
VAR have confirmed the referee’s decision. It’ll be captain Guimaraes to take.
VAR are checking the on-field decision.
What a turn of events! Hall’s cross is blocked by Aaronson, who the referee deems to have handballed Hall’s delivery! VAR will check this one.
Hall to take.
OFF: Calvert-Lewin
ON: Nmecha
Hall to take.
The Leeds fans are in full song as Newcastle are left with a mountain to climb in the final minutes of this game. To come back from being a goal down thrice in one game is a tall order, but Eddie Howe’s side are certainly going to give it a good go!
OFF: Gordon
ON: Murphy
It’s that man again! Out of nowhere Leeds restore their lead for the second time this evening! Ramsey slips, allowing Leeds to pick up the ball in the midfield before Aaronson is found on the right wing. The American manoeuvres his way onto his favoured right foot before drilling one off the post and into the bottom left-corner!
OFF: Woltemade, Schar
ON: Wissa, Ramsey
Fabian Schar is receiving medical treatment, and it looks as though he may have to be stretchered off the field here.
James Justin was so close to restoring Leeds’ lead there, he leaps above the Newcastle defence to meet the lofted ball into the box, and his looping header is only denied by the crossbar! End-to-end stuff this, but who will score the fifth goal of the encounter? It’s anybody’s guess!
The Leeds defenders are putting their bodies on the line to stop Newcastle from taking the lead. A crowd of bodies in the box saw Newcastle have about three attempts on goal, only for each and every one to be blocked by a Leeds defender. A winning goal is not going to come easy in this one!
Guimaraes to take.
Well it didn’t take long for the game to return to its pre-half time antics! St. James’ Park is absolutely rocking, and both sides are really going for it here. We’re in for an intense closing 30 minutes! Here we go!
Stach to deliver.
