Live updates from the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final between Newcastle United and Man City.
Eddie Howe says being down to ten men when City scored their goal was a big part of why they conceded.

He says Semenyo and Haaland “were not completely connected” in the first half but were “much better” in the second half.

And that could be the nail in the coffin for Newcastle! Cherki is unmarked in the penalty area and slots home City’s second to cap off a mesmerising team move from City. Pep Guardiola will be absolutely delighted with his side having doubled their advantage.
City will be in no rush to take this one, they’re nearly home and dry.
