Live updates as Newcastle host Qarabag in the second leg of their Champions League play-off, leading 6-1 from the first game.
“I think if you look at the score over the two legs it’s been fantastic from the players even though today feels like a bit of a hollow win for us. We had really enjoyed the game against Barcelona, we had a good game against Chelsea here as well, we didn’t win either, so I hope that’s a good omen for us.”
Newcastle boss Eddie Howe on the banner of him unveiled before the game: “Amazing. Big thank you to everyone that thought of that idea. It’s much appreciated the love that the supporters give me and the team. It means everything.”
Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali: “Last season we worked very tough every day, every weekend to play Champions League this season. We deserve everything.”
Newcastle winger Jacob Murphy on his side’s win: “We made hard work of it at times but we got off to a flying start and the damage was done then.”
And Newcastle hold on to win this evening here at St. James’ Park 3-2. It’s another piece of history for Eddie Howe and his side as the Magpies progress to the Champions League knockout stages. It’s job done for Newcastle, and either Chelsea or Barcelona await them in the round of 16.
This will surely be the final kick of the game.
Qarabag with what will most likely be the final chance of the game.
We will have three minutes added time to see out the game.

The 18-year-old replaces Murphy.
Gordon wins a free kick in the defensive half.
OFF: Zoubir, Cafarguliyev, Jankovic
ON: Addai, Qurbanli, Bayramov
Tonali to take.
OFF: Osula
ON: Wissa
OFF: Durán
ON: Kaschuk
Durán does very well to win the ball off Dan Burn in what could have been an extremely promising avenue for Qarabag. Unfortunately, Durán pulled up a moment later and is set to be replaced.
Barnes’ curled effort is saved and sent out for a corner.
OFF: Montiel
ON: Kady
Ramsdale saves and Qarabag have a corner.
Ramsdale saves the penalty, but Cafarguliyev bundles in the rebound and it’s 3-2 here at St. James’ Park!
That’s unlucky for Dan Burn. As he slides in to make the interception, his trailing hand catches the ball in the penalty area. The referee with no hesitation and it’s a penalty to Qarabag.
OFF: Trippier, Botman, Joelinton
ON: Hall, Willock, Gordon
Botman’s goal will be his last contribution of the evening.
Well that didn’t take long for Newcastle to respond. Two minutes after conceding, Botman rises above all to meet the incoming cross to head home and make it 3-1 to the hosts.
And Qarabag get their goal! Durán meets a lofted ball over the top of the Newcastle defence perfectly, and heads it down into his path. The Colombian beats the chasing Dan Burn for pace and calmy slots it past Ramsdale. It may be a consolation, but it’s a very well worked goal from the visitors.
Qarabag win a free kick just inside the Newcastle half.
