Erik ten Hag has faced even more pressure this season following a poor start to the new campaign.
His future remains in the balance, but who could replace the under fire United boss if the club decide to make a change?
Here are the current favourites, according to Sky Bet…
Ruud Van Nistelrooy 6/4
The favourite to be the next permanent Man Utd boss is current coach and former player Ruud van Nistelrooy. The Dutchman joined ten Hag’s coaching staff in the summer having previously managed PSV Eindhoven and is being touted as the most likely replacement for ten Hag should he depart.
Thomas Tuchel 2/1
Currently second favourite in the odds is former Chelsea, Bayern Munich, PSG and Borussia Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel. The German has also been linked with the England job and has been out of work since leaving Bayern earlier this year.
Gareth Southgate 5/1
The former England boss says he wants to take a break from football management after his eight-year spell with the national side, where he led the Three Lions to two European Championship finals, but is reportedly of interest to United should they opt to part ways with ten Hag having also previously worked with sporting director Dan Ashworth.
Michael Carrick 7/1
The former Manchester United midfielder is currently in charge of Championship side Middlesbrough, a role he has held since 2022. Before that he was a coach at Man Utd and took temporary charge of the team in 2018 after Jose Mourinho was sacked, and could be set for a return to the club should ten Hag leave.
Ruben Amorim 10/1
The Sporting CP boss has been linked with Premier League jobs previously, most recently West Ham in the summer, having led Sporting to their first league title in 19 years in the 2020/21 season before winning it again in 2023/24.
Edin Terzic 12/1
Terzic led Borussia Dortmund to the Champions League final last season before leaving the club in the summer and The Sun have also reported that he is a contender for the Man Utd job if ten Hag leaves.
Kieran McKenna 12/1
McKenna is a former coach at Man Utd and left the club IN 2021 to join Ipswich Town as manager, where he led the club to back-to-back promotions from League One to the Premier League.
Graham Potter 14/1
Potter has fallen in the odds having previously been among the favourites to take over from ten Hag. He has been out of work since being sacked by Chelsea in April 2023 but landed the job after an impressive spell at Brighton. He now says he is ready to return to management after a break away from football.
Thomas Frank 16/1
Frank has done an outstanding job at Brentford, guiding them to the Premier League and then stabilising them in the top flight with the Bees now in their fourth consecutive season in the division.
