Unai Emery says he is hopeful that striker Ollie Watkins has not suffered a more serious injury after being forced off against RB Salzburg.
Villa came from two goals down to win their final league stage game in the Europa League thanks to goals from Morgan Rogers, Tyrone Mings, and a winner from youngster Jamaldeen Jimoh.
But Watkins was forced off in the first half in another injury worry for Aston Villa.
Boss Emery, however, is optimistic it is just precautionary.
“He felt something, but not a lot,” Emery said after the game.
“We will test him. Hopefully, we are thinking that is not a lot. I don’t know if he will be available for Sunday.”
Villa are already without midfield trio John McGinn, Boubacar Kamara and Youri Tielemans at present.
Watkins missing Sunday’s game against his former club Brentford could mean Tammy Abraham is in line for his debut after joining the club from Besiktas this week.
