Pep Guardiola sent a warning to those who believe Manchester City are finished when it comes to competing for Premier League titles.
More dropped points at Crystal Palace yesterday has cast further doubt over City’s chances of catching leaders Liverpool, who are eight points clear of Guardiola’s men with a game in hand.
The reigning champions have been plagued by injuries to key players throughout the season so far and Guardiola says people shouldn’t be too quick to judge.
“Give me my players back and we will do it,” Guardiola claimed.
“But it’s not possible right now and I don’t think it’s going to happen for a long time.
“We recovered last week four central defenders but they pass the table massage to the pitch and after the pitch go to a table massage again.
“So normally after table massage you need to up the tempo in the training a little bit but the circumstances, we cannot do it.
“We demand a lot because they [the players] come for many years arriving at last stages in all competitions so the rest is few.
“At the end there is a moment that the body cannot sustain it. We try to because the doctors, physios, specialists and everyone is working incredible this season.
“Like never before I have seen but the reality is that that we have few players to rotate in this type of period.
“When we arrive in the last stages for the treble season or quadruple domestic and this kind of stuff because everybody was there.”
Despite a depleted squad, the challenges come thick and fast for City as they head to Juventus for a crunch Champions League clash on Wednesday, before Sunday’s Manchester derby.
