Pochettino: The history of Chelsea is impossible today

Mauricio Pochettino says that his Chelsea side are growing game by game but replicating the club’s past achievements is impossible right now.

Chelsea have shown slight progression under the Argentine this season and currently sit seventh in the Premier League, and still have a chance to qualify for Europe next season.

The Todd Boehly led consortium that completed a £4.25 billion takeover of Chelsea in 2022 brought with it a new transfer strategy, with the majority of their signings being young players who possess potential.

And Pochettino emphasised how happy he is with his side’s development this season, but said it will take time until they can replicate the success of previous Chelsea sides.

He said: “We have players that are growing, improving, getting more mature, living their first experience in the Premier League. I want to be honest with you and the fans. The history of Chelsea is impossible today. With time, we will match. That’s my wish.

“I think the fans are seeing what we are doing. But it’s difficult. We are doing a fantastic job, a fantastic job. When the situation start really bad, to keep calm, to keep pushing and working and believing. I am so excited for the future.”
