It’s been a positive 12 hours for Ange Postecoglou with Spurs confirming the signing of defender Kevin Danso on loan from Lens, then beating Brentford 2-0 in the Premier League.

The Australian has had a tough few months and seemed relieved when the full-time whistle went. After the game he was very complimentary about Danso.

“Great to get Kevin in. We’ve desperately needed a defender and getting him is great because he’s a great fit for us. He’s had a strong career but he’s at an age now where he really wants to push on.

“He’s got all the attributes we look for. He’s really strong 1-on-1, he’s quick, he’s dynamic, he wants to play on the ball. Really pleased to sign him and he’ll be a lift for the whole group.”

Danso is 26, and was signed because of a recent injury to Radu Dragusin which left Spurs very short in defence.

Archie Gray has filled in at centre-back for weeks, and excelled there. The same was true today, as he slotted in well next to Ben Davies, who also had a good game.

Postecoglou also revealed the club are in the market for another defender before the window closes. The news may be a surprise, as recently Tottenham have been linked with a host of forwards, including Mathys Tel who turned them down in favour of possibly joining Manchester United before tomorrow’s deadline.
