The return of the Premier League this weekend marks the beginning of the ‘run-in’, as Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City look to take initiative in the title race.
With no more international breaks until the Euros this summer, there will be a 10-match stretch over the next two months which will determine who stays up, who is heading into Europe and who will win the league.
The title run-in promises to be an all-time classic, with plenty more twists and turns along the way. Both City and Arsenal are yet to travel to Champions League chasing Tottenham, whereas Liverpool host them at Anfield. Manchester United will also have a pivotal say on the destination of the title, as they host Liverpool and Arsenal at Old Trafford.
Other standout fixtures include Manchester City and Arsenal’s home ties with Aston Villa, and Liverpool’s trip to Villa Park, where Mikel Arteta and Pep Guardiola both tasted defeat.
The top three sides in the league are separated by just a point heading into the weekend. That has never happened before at this stage of a season or later when the top three teams have played the same number of matches in a 38-game Premier League campaign.
