Real Sociedad president discusses Arsenal’s interest in Merino as Gunners demand more for Nketiah – transfer latest

Nottingham Forest are hoping to tie up a deal for Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah, according to Sky Sports.

The report claims there is currently a gap in valuation between the two clubs, with the Gunners valuing him at more than £30m.

Elsewhere, Chelsea are said to have agreed a deal to bring Joao Felix to the club on a permanent basis. according to various reports.

The Portuguese international is expected to sign a six-year deal with Chelsea that includes the option for a further year, and his move back to the club will allow Conor Gallagher to head in the other direction.

Real Sociedad president Jokin Aperribay has confirmed talks have taken place with Arsenal for Mikel Merino. “When we think the deal is the right one for Real, we’ll say yes. Until then, we’ll stand by the interests of Real,” Apperibay said.

Sky Sports also say a Saudi Arabian side, believed to be Al Ahli, have approached Brentford for striker Ivan Toney, who was left out of the squad for the win over Crystal Palace due to ongoing uncertainty around his future.

Toney has just a year remaining on his contract and speaking at full time, the manager said that “a deal is not close but we hope it will be”. The 28-year-old has found the back of the net 72 times since signing for the Bees in 2020, and had been consistently linked with various Premier League clubs before being hit with an eight-month ban last season due to betting offences.

Juventus are among the clubs interested in Raheem Sterling, according to various reports, having issued a statement on Sunday claiming he would “seek clarity” on his future after being left out of the squad to face Manchester City.

Fabrizio Romano claims Manchester City have made contact with Ilkay Gündogan’s camp over a potential return for German midfielder, with Barcelona reportedly willing to let him leave.

And Panathinaikos are in advanced talks with Manchester United over the signing of forward Facundo Pellistri while discussions with Fulham over Scott McTominay are continuing, Sky Sports say.
