Saka after win over Brighton: ‘As long as I’ve got two legs, I’m going to give everything’

Bukayo Saka admits he was struggling with his fitness ahead of the win over Brighton but says he was desperate to be involved in the game.

The Gunners’ 3-0 victory took them back to the top of the Premier League, with Saka opening the scoring from the penalty spot before goals from Kai Havertz and Leandro Trossard sealed the win.

Saka picked up a muscle issue in the goalless draw with Man City and missed the win over Luton in mid-week but says he wanted to “give everything” for his team against Brighton.

“We know the win takes us back on top so we’re happy,” he told Sky Sports.

“To come here after playing three days ago as well, really happy, the boys put in another top performance. We’re building momentum.

“I was struggling, but as long as I’ve got two legs I’m going to give everything and I just want to be on the pitch so I was happy to be out there today.”

Saka has now scored five Premier League penalties for his side this season and says he had planned where to place the spot-kick the day before the game.

“I have my routine and I always know where I’m going, since yesterday (I’ve known).

“I practised that yesterday and that’s exactly how it went yesterday.
