Arne Slot has played down Manchester City’s poor run of form and insists they are still one of Europe’s top sides.

City have lost five of the last six games in all competitions and spurned a three-goal lead to draw 3-3 with Feyernood in the Champions League on Tuesday.

But Slot suggested the run of form could be deceiving, ahead of the clash with Guardiola’s side on Sunday.

The Liverpool boss said: “Everybody is looking at their results but if you face them, you analyse it. They were 1-0 up against Brighton and could have scored one or two more. They could have been two or three goals up against Tottenham and against Feyenoord – that has not happened many times.

“They are still a very, very good team and one of the reasons why I think Pep Guardiola is one of the best managers in the world – I think he is the best – he always comes up with solutions for his problems.

“We all know he will come up with a solution but hopefully after Sunday.”

Liverpool duo Ibrahima Konate and Conor Bradley are doubts for the clash with Manchester City but Slot says Trent Alexander-Arnold could return to the starting line-up.
