Arne Slot says his Liverpool players cannot afford to let up after moving eight points clear at the top of the Premier League table.
Liverpool had to come from 2-1 down to beat Southampton, who led through goals from Adam Armstrong and Mateus Fernandes after Dominik Szoboszlai had opened the scoring.
But Mo Salah struck twice to secure another victory for Slot’s side, who now have an eight-point gap at the top after Manchester City’s defeat to Tottenham on Saturday.
Slot says the strength of the opposition means their rivals are not yet out of it, however.
“These players have been long in the Premier League. I think it was later in the season that Arsenal led by eight points and City came back.
“You know if you face Arsenal, City, Chelsea or Tottenham who were great yesterday and can win so many games in a row. It’s nice to have this position but we are definitely not getting carried away.”
