Spurs confirm Bentancur has undergone surgery – but close in on double signing

Tottenham have confirmed that Rodrigo Bentancur has undergone surgery on his hamstring injury.

The midfielder suffered the injury during Spurs’ Premier League defeat to Bournemouth last week and is now set for a spell on the sidelines.

However, Tottenham are closing in on the signing of another midfielder in Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid following Bentancur’s injury.

Spurs have reached a deal worth £34m to sign the former Chelsea man, who has spent 18 months at Atletico Madrid.

They are also close to finalising a £13m deal for Santos left-back Souza.
