Spurs duo to ‘explore transfer opportunities’ after being left out of squad for pre-season tour

Tottenham duo Sergio Reguillon and Bryan Gil will be allowed to “explore prospective transfer opportunities” after being given permission not to travel with the squad for the pre-season tour of Asia, the club have announced.

Reguillon spent the first half of last season on loan at Manchester United before joining Brentford on loan in the second half of the campaign.

Gil featured just 11 times under boss Ange Postecoglou last season and has also spent time out on loan at Valencia and Sevilla since signing for Spurs in 2021.

Goalkeeper Fraser Forster will also not be part of the squad heading to Japan and South Korea as he continues his rehabilitation from a fractured foot.

Spurs also say Rodrigo Bentancur, Giovani Lo Celso, Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven will rejoin the squad closer to the start of the season after representing their countries in the latter stages of the Copa America and Euro 2024.

Postecoglou’s side play J League champions Vissel Kobe in Tokyo on Saturday (11am UK), K League All Stars in Seoul on Wednesday 31 July (12 noon UK) and FC Bayern, also in Seoul, on Saturday 3 August (12 noon UK).
