Spurs star to miss FA Cup match against Aston Villa

Cristian Romero will miss Tottenham’s FA Cup clash with Aston Villa after being handed an extra one-match suspension following his red card against Liverpool.

The Spurs skipper has also been fined £50,000 after he admitted to a Football Association charge of “acting improperly by failing to leave the field of play promptly” after he was sent off in the 93rd minute.

Romero was shown a second yellow card for kicking out at Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate having earlier been booked for dissent.

Spurs are also set to be without Mohammed Kudus and Rodrigo Bentancur for the tie through injury, with Kudus having been ruled out until at least March.
