Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola was less than pleased to reveal that both Kyle Walker and John Stones are out of the crucial Premier League match against Arsenal this weekend.
Both City defenders pulled up in each of England’s international friendlies against Brazil and Belgium.
Guardiola will now have to switch around his back four ahead of the game against Mikel Arteta’s men, but was left furious after John Stones was allowed to play in both England friendlies.
“Kyle and John out”, said Guardiola. “It is what it is, I do not have any comments on that.”
“Right now every game is so important. Kevin is such an important player. This season has been tough for him. He has had setbacks.
“He trained really well yesterday, so we will see what we will do in the next days.”
Arsenal have not won at the Etihad since 2015, but will make life difficult for City this weekend. It is another clash between Guardiola and Arteta, two managers who know each other so well.
“Same manager, new players. They control every aspect of the game. Every time it is getting better and better”, said the City boss.
Declan Rice chose to join Arsenal over Manchester City, Guardiola seemed unfazed that he turned down the Champions.
“Since I am here many players we wanted did not decide to join us. It is not the first one. He took his decision, a good one and good luck”, he said.
