The top five wingers of the Premier League era

Mohamed Salah scored yet again for Liverpool at the weekend to make it 15 consecutive Liverpool home games where he has either scored or assisted.

Salah joins Theirry Henry and Alan Shearer on this prestigious list. The 31 year-old has been a special addition to the Premier League since he joined in 2017, and is considered one of the best Premier League wingers of all time.

Here are our five all time Premier League wingers.

Cristiano Ronaldo

One of the greatest players of all time, and one of the all time great Premier League wingers. Cristiano Ronaldo became a superstar at Manchester United after arriving in 2003. The Portuguese scored 103 goals across two spells at Manchester United. He went on to do incredible things in his career, but the Premier League was where Ronaldo made a name for himself.

He won the Premier League three times, player of the season twice and the Golden Boot once. He was a key cog in one of the most successful Premier League sides of all time and brought flair, skill and magical moments to the top tier of English football.

Eden Hazard

Eden Hazard’s best years of his career came in the Premier League with Chelsea. The Belgium winger was an absolute phenomenon. He recorded 85 goals and 54 assists during his time at Stamford Bridge. Hazard’s tricky close controlled skill and blistering pace gave defenders nightmares. On his day, he was unstoppable.

He also won the Premier League twice, alongside the player of the season in 2014/15. He career never hit the heady heights of his Chelsea days once he moved to Real Madrid. Hazard retired in October 2023, but will always be remembered as a Premier League great.

Mohammed Salah

Mo Salah’s career changed for the better when he made the move from AS Roma to Liverpool. After a spell at Chelsea, he scored two goals in 13 appearances, spanning across three seasons. Since joining Liverpool he has become one the most celebrated players of the Premier League era. With a deadly eye for goal, incredible pace and a knack for scoring in high pressure games, Salah has become a Liverppol great and one of the most feared players of all time.

He is just one goal from reaching 150 Premier League goals, as Salah finds ways of breaking new records every week for Liverpool. He also has three Golden Boots, one player of the season award and a Premier League title. After his failed stint at Chelsea, not many would have predicted the legacy he will leave on the Premier League.

Heung-min Son

Heung-min Son has had the luxury of some excellent players to link up with in attack during his time at Spurs. The South Korean has 111 goals in 280 games, achieving a Golden Boot too. Since 2016/17, Son has reached double figures for goals in every season, and has eight goals to his name so far in 2023/24.

The play-maker has scored some wonderful goals in his time at Spurs, whilst linking up with goal scoring machine Harry Kane. Long range curling shots and lung-busting runs are Son’s speciality. He has brought a new lease of life to Spurs’ frontline since he joined from the Bundesliga. Son is well loved by the Tottenham fans, and by neutrals too for his wholesome and down to earth personality. In terms of talent, he is one of the best in the Premier League era.

Ryan Giggs

Ryan Giggs has to be one of the all-time greats for just the sheer amount of accolades he has won during his time at Manchester United. The Welsh wizard has played 632 times, scoring 109 goals and assisting over 160 times. With a staggering 13 Premier League titles, Giggs is one of the most successful players in Premier League history.

Giggs was one of the most consistent players of Sir Alex Ferguson’s reign, being a mainstay whilst representing Manchester United as captain. Quick, reliable and hard working were the main attributes of Giggs’ game. An all time great.
