LIVE updates from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as Tottenham take on Everton in the Premier League.
“I know how the players are working, I think we’re in the right way. It’s tough to explain because four games without a goal is tough to accept. We are sorry for the fans but the fans were behind the players today.
“In the first 30 minutes when we played very well, it was a hot, hot stadium, and then like me, like every fan of Tottenham or people inside the club, we were sad because 75 times in the goal area and not shooting enough for the quality of the play we did. Also in the second half. I watched many winning teams create less than us in the second half.
“The real problem, the most important problem, is the players have to be focused on the first 30 minutes and the improvement we can and have to do. Not about social media or the journalists because if we won today, it would be different.
“The result changed the opinion. Not my opinion, because I am a coach, not a journalist or a fan.”
“I’m always honest with you. When we play bad I say we played very bad. But when I come into the press conference 99% I’m honest like with the players and the club.
“We started this season late for many, many reasons, but too late. Many players at the World Cup and many problems, injuries in Australia – Fernandes, van de Ven, Solanke.
“Not our responsibility or the club’s but we bought two players late, Savio and Marmoush, and they started to work with this group two Thursdays ago. We have not the right physical condition yet.
“I think we played very well in the first 30 minutes, we didn’t score, and maybe we lost, in some players, a little confidence.
“We have to be, not positive, but realistic. If we extend that 30 minutes into 60, 70, 80, 90, in my opinion, my belief is we’re going to win many games.
“We have to improve in the last third of the pitch for sure, the last decision, the last pass for sure. We have to shoot more times, especially when we have space and time to.”
“Was I happy with the performance? No, not really. I wanted much more from the team but I told them about coming here and we’ve not had a great record here. A couple of months ago we got stopped from getting into Europe by not winning here.
“I felt we had to come here and be resilient.”
Everton remain unbeaten, and Spurs remain without a goal in the Premier League. It ends level.
Three minutes are added on at the end of the 90
Bergvall has the ball just outside the area and bends an effort towards goal, but Pickford is equal to it.
Savio crosses into the area and it’s met by Gray, the header goes over though.
Gray is then replaced by Tosin making his Spurs debut.
Savio and Tonali have both had chances to open the scoring, but have seen their shots blocked, they now have a free kick in the Everton half.
There’s still time.
James Maddison is on for Omar Marmoush.
Brennan Johnson almost has Everton ahead against his former club.
The ball rolls to him on the edge of the box, but the strike is over the box.
He is then instantly brought off to applause from both fans.
Hayden =hackney on in his place.
Kinsky tries to play at the back, but his pass only finds Dewsbury-Hall just outside the box.
Kinsky stands up strong and saves the incoming shot though; big let-off for the goalkeeper.
Jack Grealish replaces Tyrique George
Kudus, Tel and Bergvall are on for Bentancur, Fernandes and Solanke
Lucas Bergvall and Mathys Tel are both stripped and ready to come on.
Savio has the ball in a promising position on the right and looks to find Gray on the overlap.
Gray accidently runs over the ball, however, and it runs out for a goal kick.
George does excellently down the left, before releasing a cross into the centre. Barry meets it, but Kinsky is there to block with his head.
An eruption of sarcastic noise as Spurs register their first shot on target of the match.
Fernandes cuts in on his left before releasing a tame effort straight at Pickford.
We are back underway at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Spurs started strong, but eventually their dominance wore off. Neither side produced anything of note in the first 45 minutes; more to come in the second half, hopefully.
James Garner lines up a free kick which is comfortably saved by Kinsky, but a shot on target at last.
Neither side have had a shot on target today, a fairly dull half so far.
That notion summed up by Marmoush booting the ball out of play.
Robertson has to do better there.
Marmoush finds the Scot in behind and he has a lot of time to pick an option with Savio in the centre. Instead his cross goes straight at Pickford who clears.
Another beautiful Tonali pass almost creates a chance.
He finds Gray in behind, who takes a touch, but the ball is cleared before he can get a shot away.
Archie Gray is down after a collision in the centre of the pitch. A problem for Spurs with Porro already injured.
UPDATE: the Englishman is back to his feet and walks to the side of the pitch with the medical staff.
The full back, who scored a spectacular goal against Manchester United last weekend, tries his luck from the edge of the area, but this time shoots wide.
