Transfer latest: Arsenal eye Havertz, Chelsea reject Mount offer

Chelsea have immediately rejected an offer worth around £40m from Manchester United for midfielder Mason Mount, while Arsenal are said to be chasing a deal for Kai Havertz.

Mount has just a year remaining on his current contract with the Blues, but have swiftly turned down an opening offer from United according to Sky Sports, who also say there remains a big gap in both club’s valuation of the England international.

Another of Chelsea’s squad attracting interest from a fellow Premier League side is Havertz, with several outlets reporting that the Arsenal are looking to sign the 24-year-old.

The Blues are under pressure to sell players quickly in order to comply with financial fair play regulations, but reports suggest they want at least £70m for the forward – who scored seven Premier League goals last season.

According to the Daily Mail, the Gunners want to pay closer to £60m for Havertz, and are willing to pay him wages of £200,000 a week.

Chelsea also want to bring in players this summer, however, with the Evening Standard claiming they are in talks over a £30m move for Villarreal striker Nicolas Jackson.

Elsewhere, Champions League newcomers Newcastle are closing in on a deal for Inter Milan and Italy midfielder Nicolo Barella, according to The Telegraph.

The deal is said to be worth around £50m, with Newcastle reportedly pushing hard to complete the signing of the Champions League finalist.

Fabrizio Romano, meanwhile, reports that Barella’s Inter Milan want to sign Chelsea defender Kalidou Koulibaly alongside bringing back striker Romelu Lukaku.

And Real Madrid have confirmed the signing of Jude Bellingham as expected, who joins from Borussia Dortmund for an initial £88.5m.
