Ancelotti backs Rodrygo to stay at Real Madrid amid Man City links

Carlo Ancelotti says he is confident that Real Madrid star Rodrygo will stay at the club amid reports linking him with a move to Manchester City.

The forward has scored five goals in 12 Champions League matches en route to the final, with Madrid set to face Borussia Dortmund at Wembley Stadium on Saturday looking to lift their 15th Champions League trophy in the club’s history.

And Ancelotti says the 23-year-old can have a big impact in the final and believes he will continue to be an important player for the club after this season, when asked about the reports linking him with a move to City.

He said: “I know the players are going to give it their all tomorrow on the pitch, like Rodrygo. He’s going to give it his all tomorrow.

“He is a very important piece for us. He has been very important, he is, and he will be in the future. We have no doubt about that whatsoever.”

Ancelotti has already lifted two Champions League trophies with the club, including their historic tenth title in 2014.

Reflecting on that victory, Ancelotti said: “I’m 10 years older but I feel young.

“The first time I was in the final with Real Madrid was 10 years ago and I have learned a lot since then. We are able to do a fantastic job with this generation. There are some players who are still here since that time. It’s incredible if you think about it.”
