WATCH: Guardiola hails Man City players for ‘adapting to the chaos’ in draw with Real Madrid

Pep Guardiola hailed his Man City side’s maturity after their exciting 3-3 draw with Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League quarter final.

Bernardo Silva fired City in front early on before goals from Eduardo Camavinga and Rodrygo turned the game around for Real Madrid.

Stunning strikers from Phil Foden and Josko Gvardiol had put City back in command of the tie but Federico Valverde’s fine volley sent both sides into the second leg at the Etihad level, and Guardiola was pleased with what he saw from his side.

“This result or this game in the first three seasons together, we would have lost 4-1 or 5-1,” Guardiola said.

“We were not stable emotionally. One of the key points in these games is being stable emotionally. It’s fundamental.

“Hopefully in the future we can do it better and better. We play at home next week and our people will give us a hand, help us to score.

“One of the secrets at the highest level is adapt quickly to the chaos.”
