Chelsea boss Mauricio Pochettino says his side’s London derby with Tottenham will present an opportunity for some of the club’s younger players because of the current injury situation in the squad.
Defenders Axel Disasi and the departing Thiago Silva have both been added to an already long injury list which also includes Reece James, Robert Sanchez, Raheem Sterling, Ben Chilwell, Enzo Fernandez, Malo Gusto and more.
Both Christopher Nkunku and Levi Colwill are back in full team training but it remains to be seen whether they are ready to return to the squad.
“No good news because we cannot recall any players from the last [injury] list and we need to add two more – Disasi and Thiago, they are not available for tomorrow,” Pochettino said.
“Every single game is a challenge and tomorrow we have a big challenge against Tottenham, a great team.
“It will be a nice game to play. It is a great opportunity for some kids to have some opportunity to be on the bench or maybe play.”
