Live updates from Molineux as Wolves host Chelsea in the Carabao Cup fourth round.
“I don’t have any doubts with the players,” Pereira continued. “We’ll turn over the situation for sure.”
“We feel we are so close to winning a game. We are trying to find solutions.”
“We showed the spirit, we showed we have quality, we showed we can do it.” said Pereira. “We just need a win and then we can move on.
“We showed our character, our ambition and our resilience.”
“It’s embarrassing when it’s a red card like today,” the Chelsea boss said. “Two yellow cards in seven minutes. We can avoid both. It’s not good.
“Absolutely, yes. A stupid foul. He deserved that. I can understand the red cards against Brighton and United, but against Nottingham and today, we can avoid that.”
“Very happy first-half, very unhappy second-half. This is my personal view,” said Maresca. “We were very good first-half, playing nice football and creating chances. We didn’t concede anything.
“Second-half, we weren’t doing the right things. The three goals we concede, we can avoid all of them. For sure, today we had a very stupid red card that was completely unnecessary.”
Chelsea do hold on and progress to the next round. They really made hard work of it in the second half, especially with Delap’s silly sending off. In the end an incredible strike from Gittens is enough to seal it.
Wolves fought back and showed plenty of heart but could not find that crucial equaliser. Pereira will desperately hope that they can carry that spirit into their next league game.
Wolves are still pushing for an equaliser and Chelsea are still surviving for now.
Only seconds remain at this point.
Perhaps it is not sealed, as Wolves respond immediately.
A goalmouth scramble ends with Wolfe firing at goal. Cucurella tries to clear but can only head into the roof of his own net. Game back on.
From out of nowhere Gittens seals it for Chelsea with an incredible goal.
From the edge of the box, the Englishman strikes a bouncing ball with the outside of his right foot and it flies in off the inside of the post.
Delap jumps into Agbadou and catches him with an elbow. The referee does not hesitate and produces a second yellow card.
Not the return that he would have wanted and Chelsea will be forced to play with ten men in the final minutes.
Maresca sends on his most important midfielder Caicedo, as he looks to sure things up in the final minutes.
Buonanotte comes off after a fairly anonymous evening.
Chelsea take their first shot of the second half in the 84th minute.
It comes from Tosin who heads well over from a free-kick.
A last roll of the dice from Pereira.
Arokodare is withdrawn and Bellegarde is sent on.
Mosquera goes down and wins a free-kick from Delap. The Englishman then pushes him to the ground and is shown a yellow card.
Chelsea are not helping themselves here.
Another Chelsea change as George is replaced by Neto.
The former Wolves man is not welcomed back warmly by the home supporters.
Wolves have another and they are well and truly back in this game.
Munetsi heads, Krejci flicks it on, Agbadou also helps it on and then Wolfe volleys home at the back post. A great goal from Wolves who deserve to be back in this game.
George fouls Mosquera and then shoves him again after the whistle.
Perhaps a sign of frustration from the Englishman who is shown a yellow card.
Jorgensen produces a huge save to deny Strand Larsen, as the ball fell to the striker in the box just moments after he came on.
The flag does go up for offside though and it would not have counted.
Strand Larsen is on for Hwang.
Wolves will hope their number nine can have a positive impact on this tie.
Maresca turns to his bench as he looks to regain control of this tie.
Cucurella, Fernandez and Delap are sent on in place of Gusto, Lavia and Estevao.
Wolves are continuing to put pressure on Chelsea.
Mosquera goes close with a header from their latest free-kick but they still trail by two.
Hwang is eventually shown a yellow card after things calm down.
The Wolves supporters at least appreciate the fight being shown by their players.
Hwang goes in late on Lavia with a challenge that looked a little nasty.
Tosin pushes the Wolves forward in response and things threaten to boil over for a second.
The momentum has completely shifted in this game and Chelsea are under real pressure now.
Jorgensen dropped a cross but Wolves could not find a way to squeeze the ball into an empty net.
A worrying sight for Maresca as Gittens requires treatment.
The winger went down after a challenge from Mosquera.
