Mason Mount speaking to Sky Sports: “It was an important win for us. Obviously, first half, we let them back in it before half-time and we go into the changing room frustrated and disappointed with the first half.

“The manager had a few things to say and it was down to us to attack with a purpose and finish the chances we created. We’re happy with the second half.”

It has not been in a doubt for a long time but it is finally all over.

A much needed result and performance from United, who can now move on to the next one. For Wolves, it is more misery as any surviving hopes of safety continue to disappear.

The Englishman makes a great run in behind the Wolves defence, Fernandes picks him out with a dinked pass and Mount steers a volley into the bottom corner.

The hosts have had the ball in United’s box on a couple of occasions, with the visitors struggling to clear.

It bounces around the penalty area more than once but no Wolves player is able to apply the finishing touch and get them level for the second time.

Things get even worse for the hosts, as goalscorer Bellegarde is forced off with an injury.

Dalot charges forward down the left-hand side unmarked and then squares it for Mbeumo to finish into an empty net. Far too easy from a Wolves perspective but United are back ahead.

After being ordered to retake the kick off, Krejci successfully gets the second half underway.

No changes from either side yet.

United took the lead but they never did enough to increase their advantage. The Reds could have been out of reach after the opening 20 minutes but wasted chances and a drop in their level has let Wolves back in and they go in all square at the break.

That equaliser was massively needed for Wolves, who should return with a fresh sense of confidence after the break. Edwards could kickstart his tenure with a statement result here.

Wolves do find the equaliser before half-time and it comes from Bellegarde.

Their first goal in more than five games, United fail to deal with a cross properly and it is eventually turned in by Bellegarde.
