The World Cup group stages have come to a close with the full list of teams to progress now confirmed.

There are some hugely exciting round of 32 ties to look forward to with some potential upsets on the cards.

Each group examined

Group A

Mexico progressed as group winners while South Africa’s win over South Korea saw them go through as runners up. South Korea face a nervous wait to see if they will go through as one of the best third-placed teams.

Group B

Switzerland beat Canada to top spot in the group, meaning Canada have lost their home advantage for the knockouts. Bosnia & Herzegovina beat Qatar in their final game to secure their status as one of the best third-placed teams.

Group C

Brazil are through as group winners after beating Scotland in their last game, while Morocco finished as runners up. Scotland failed to do enough to make it through as a best third-place team.

Group D

USA had already secured top spot in the group, despite losing to Turkey in their final game, who had already been eliminated. Australia finished second to progress, while Paraguay are confirmed as one of the best third-place teams.

Group E

Germany’s defeat to Ecuador did not impact their place as group winners, while Ecuador winning means they are through as a best third-place team. Ivory Coast finished second in the group.

Group F

The Netherlands came out on top in the group, with Japan finishing as runners up. Sweden’s point against Japan in their last game sees them through as a best third-place team.

Group G

Egypt secured second spot by drawing against Iran, while Belgium went through as group winners after thrashing New Zealand. Iran missed out on a best third-place spot.

Group H

Spain beat Uruguay to win the group, knocking out Marcelo Bielsa’s side in the process. Remarkably, Cape Verde beat Saudi Arabia, who are also eliminated, and Uruguay to second spot.

Group I

France beat Norway in their final group game to beat Norway to top spot, with Norway going through in second.

Senegal thrashed Iraq in their final game to guarantee themselves as one of the eight best third-place teams.

Group J

Argentina are through as group winners. Austria and Algeria both progressed to the knockouts after drawing in their final group game.

Group K

Colombia’s draw with Portugal saw them beat Roberto Martinez’s side to top spot in the group. DR Congo beat Uzbekistan to go through as a best third-place team.

Group L

England beat Panama to top the group, while Croatia went through in second after their win over Ghana in the final game. Ghana are also through as a best third-place team.
