Liverpool ‘fully expect’ Salah to stay next season

Liverpool expect Mohamed Salah to stay at the club next season despite reports linking him with a move to the Saudi Pro League.

The Egyptian is approaching the final 12 months of his contract and speculation has increased in recent weeks that he could be on the move.

However, according to the Athletic, Salah has no intentions of leaving and it aligns with the club’s stance, who want Salah to be a key figure next season under the new management of Arne Slot- after the Dutchman agreed a deal in principle to join from Feyenoord at the end of the season.

Salah has continuously been linked with a move to Saudi after Al Ittihad tried to sign him last summer. The Athletic have also reported that the view in the Saudi Pro League hierarchy is that Salah wishes to spend another season at Anfield.

Interest from Saudi has not gone entirely, with some clubs hopeful that they can pursue Salah in 2025 when he will become a free agent- if he does not further extend his stay at Liverpool.

Since joining Liverpool, Salah has become one of Liverpool’s greatest ever players, winning the Premier League, Champions League, UEFA Super Cup, Club World Cup, FA Cup and Carabao Cup (x2).

He has scored 210 goals for the club and despite being criticised this season for regressing since returning from his AFCON duties, Salah has still accumulated 29 goals in 49 appearances for club and country across all competitions this campaign.
