Aston Villa confirm Digne departure but close in on his replacement

Lucas Digne has left Aston Villa to join Paris Saint-Germain in an £8.5m deal, with Villa already closing in on his replacement.

The France international is heading back to PSG, where he played previously played, bringing an end to his spell at Villa Park.

Digne joined Villa from Everton in January 2022 and went on to establish himself as an important figure at left-back.

His departure will leave Villa needing to fill a key position, but the club are already close to doing so.

Villa are closing in on a deal to sign Atletico Madrid left-back Matteo Ruggeri for around £17m.
