Postecoglou stands up for Erik ten Hag

Ange Postecoglou stands up for Erik ten Hag after increasing pressure mounts on the Manchester United boss.

I think Erik’s in a really tough job and he’s done really well. He keeps mentioning he’s won two trophies and that’s not insignificant, everyone keeps telling me that’s all I have to do, but it’s not all you have to do, because when you do that there’s always more. He’s done a great job, a difficult job.

13:47 Chilwell could get more game time

Ben Chilwell made a surprise appearance in the Carabao Cup win over Barrow this week having been told in the summer that he was not in Maresca’s plans. But the Chelsea boss has not ruled out using him again. “In the moment we need him, for sure, why not? I will say again in the moment he is with us, he is one of the Chelsea players and one of our players. If we need we will give him chances and minutes.”

13:45 Maresca impressed by Caicedo

“He is top player. He is very good but as all the top players, he can improve things. He is playing fantastic.”

13:42 Maresca urges patience for Nkunku

“I’ll be honest with Chris Nkunku and all of them. I’ve told them since day one that we cannot play with 7/8 attacking players, otherwise there is no defensive balance.”

13:40 Arteta backs Neto

Arteta has backed Neto to impress tomorrow if first-choice goalkeeper David Raya is unavailable. “We believed he was the right player because he was in the Premier League and had experience and we can put him in in the right moment.”

13:38 Merino expected back soon

More from Arteta on Merin: “Next week we’ll see. He had partial training today. It’s about the healing of the bone and seeing when he’s ready for contact.”

De Bruyne also unavailable to face Newcastle

More bad luck for Pep, who also confirms Kevin De Bruyne will not be available for tomorrow’s trip to St. James’ Park.

13:35 Arteta on Arsenal criticism

“If we get negative criticism for where we are and what we’ve been through these past few games that that tells you where the expectations are.”

“I don’t want to be on YouTube because we have done something silly. I want to be on YouTube because we have achieved something in May.”

Pep on dealing with Rodri absence

Pep Guardiola on dealing with Rodri’s absence: “A lot of months without an important player for us, everybody knows it. And like all the teams want, a speedy recovery for next season to compete against them…”

Rodri out for the season!

Pep Guardiola confirms the worst news on Rodri: “He got surgery this morning, ACL and some meniscus, so next season he will be here. This season is over…”

13:31 Positive update on Timber and White but Merino still out

Arteta:”Jurrien was able to take part in training today, hopefully Ben as well.”

He adds that tomorrow is “too soon” for Merino to return.

13:30 Arteta on injuries

Mikel Arteta is also holding his pre-match press conference ahead of the clash with Leicester. He says David Raya is a doubt to play through injury. “We have to wait 24 hours.”

13:28 Maresca says Lavia available

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has been speaking to the media in the last few minutes and confirmed Romeo Lavia is available to face Brighton.

12:06 - WATCH Arne Slot's FULL press conference ahead of Wolves

11:30 - Slot's cheeky Man Utd dig

“It’s still a small sample size and I said before when it comes to us winning quite a lot of games, until now we’ve faced a lot of teams at the bottom of the table. Of course we expect Man Utd to be at the top of the table come the end, maybe not on top but at the top.”

11:24 Slot on Wolves

“They’ve had a more difficult schedule than we’ve had.

“I can see the games were very tight and they deserved more than they got a few times. I think they will be fine.”

11:23 Slot feeling gratefuful

“It’s been a privilege to inherit a squad like I’ve inherited.”

11:20 - Slot coy on trio's future

Virgil Van Dijk, Mo Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold are all out of contract at the end of the season but Slot is not being drawn on their futures. “I’m very happy that these players are in my team at the moment. There’s a lot of games this season and in the upcoming weeks, let’s see what happens in the future.”

11:17 - Slot hoping for Alisson return

Arne Slot is speaking to the media ahead of Liverpool’s game against Wolves tomorrow and says he is hoping goalkeeper Alisson will be able to return to the side following an injury. “He trained yesterday as part of our session, we expect him to do the whole session today.”
