I think Erik’s in a really tough job and he’s done really well. Ben Chilwell made a surprise appearance in the Carabao Cup win over Barrow this week having been told in the summer that he was not in Maresca’s plans. But the Chelsea boss has not ruled out using him again. “In the moment we need him, for sure, why not? I will say again in the moment he is with us, he is one of the Chelsea players and one of our players. If we need we will give him chances and minutes.”
“He is top player. He is very good but as all the top players, he can improve things. He is playing fantastic.”

More bad luck for Pep, who also confirms Kevin De Bruyne will not be available for tomorrow’s trip to St. James’ Park.

He adds that tomorrow is “too soon” for Merino to return.
Mikel Arteta is also holding his pre-match press conference ahead of the clash with Leicester. He says David Raya is a doubt to play through injury. “We have to wait 24 hours.”
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has been speaking to the media in the last few minutes and confirmed Romeo Lavia is available to face Brighton.
“It’s still a small sample size and I said before when it comes to us winning quite a lot of games, until now we’ve faced a lot of teams at the bottom of the table. Of course we expect Man Utd to be at the top of the table come the end, maybe not on top but at the top.”
“They’ve had a more difficult schedule than we’ve had.
“I can see the games were very tight and they deserved more than they got a few times. I think they will be fine.”

Virgil Van Dijk, Mo Salah and Trent Alexander-Arnold are all out of contract at the end of the season but Slot is not being drawn on their futures. “I’m very happy that these players are in my team at the moment. There’s a lot of games this season and in the upcoming weeks, let’s see what happens in the future.”
Arne Slot is speaking to the media ahead of Liverpool’s game against Wolves tomorrow and says he is hoping goalkeeper Alisson will be able to return to the side following an injury. “He trained yesterday as part of our session, we expect him to do the whole session today.”
