Ruben Amorim admits Manchester United have taken a risk by not signing more players during the transfer window and accepts that his job will be in danger if results do not improve.
United have been enduring a woeful Premier League campaign and sit in 13th position having lost 2-0 at home to Crystal Palace in their last game.
United only made two signings in the transfer window, however, bringing in young defender Ayden Heaven from Arsenal and left-sided Patrick Dorgu from Lecce.
And United boss Amorim admits the club are taking a risk by not splashing the cash in January.
The Portuguese manager explained: “What I feel is that the club is taking its time.
“We know the urgency of the moment with the team, but everybody here does not want to make the same mistakes of the past, in the summer we will see.
“We are being really careful with transfers because we made some mistakes in the past.”
Without new players arriving, it is not clear how the Reds will improve this season, and Amorim admits: “It is is hard to turn things around in just a few games, it is going to be really hard until the end of the season, we are taking that risk.
“We want a different thing in the team, profiles, in that area, it was my decision to do that.
“We are taking some risks, but is the way we want to proceed.”
United’s boss is aware that without improvements, pressure will start to mount on his position, adding: “That is clear, it is also exciting, I knew when I chose this profession that you have the risk of results and I knew when I came here and I looked at the schedule, I looked at the team.
“My decision to change everything in the middle of the season without new signings is a danger for a coach, but I have a clear idea of what I want to do and I take these risks because in the end it’s going to pay off.
“But I’m not naive, I said that many times, this is a sport of results and we are in a difficult situation.
“Like we said before, we are fighting for our jobs until the summer.”
