Arsenal ultimately fell short of their ambitions this season, failing to win silverware despite finishing runners-up in the Premier League once again.
But there were still some positives from the campaign, including a run to the Champions League semi-finals and some brilliant performances along the way.
We’ve graded each player based on their performances this season…
Goalkeepers
David Raya – A
Won the Golden Glove. Despite some erratic distribution, his shot-stopping was second-to-none.
Defenders
Ben White – B-
Hard to judge a player injured for so much of the season. Flashes of his best on his return.
William Saliba – A
Still the Rolls Royce defender in Arsenal’s armoury. A couple of rare errors showed his human side and that he can get even better.
Gabriel Magalhães – A+
A leader and rock in defence. Supreme alongside Saliba. Huge goal threat too.
Jurrien Timber – A
Like a new signing after a year out injured. Candidate for Player of the Season.
Jakub Kiwior – C+
Exceeded expectations at centre=back when he replaced the injured Gabriel. Perfect squad man.
Riccardo Calafiori – B+
Exciting when he played but injuries limited his impact in his debut season.
Myles Lewis-Skelly – A
The find of the season from the youth ranks. Showed maturity beyond his years playing in an unfamiliar position.
Midfielders
Declan Rice – A+
Showed signs he can be world class as he bossed the midfield, scoring goals too.
Thomas Partey – A+
His best season as an Arsenal player. Will be very hard to replace if he goes.
Mikel Merino – B
A slow burner of a season ended with him leading the line as a makeshift striker. Much liked by fans and team-mates.
Martin Odegaard – C+
Injury hampered the tireless Arsenal captain as his influence on the team diminished.
Ethan Nwaneri – B+
Another breakout teenager from the Hale End ranks. Dazzling in place of Saka. Yet to find his best position.
Forwards
Bukayo Saka – A
Lengthy injury highlighted his importance to the side. Remains Arsenal’s most potent attacking threat.
Gabriel Martinelli – B-
Had flashes of brilliance but lacked consistency throughout the season.
Kai Havertz – B+
Showed value for money after his big transfer from Chelsea. Leading scorer and much missed when injured.
Leandro Trossard – B+
Important player starting and off the bench. Versatile and impactful.
Gabriel Jesus – B
Injury issues limited his contributions at a time when he was beginning to show his goalscoring prowess.
Raheem Sterling – C-
Very disappointing loan season from such a likeable player.
