Arsenal are continuing to explore a deal for Real Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino, according to Sky Sports.

They say that while a formal approach is yet to be made, there are discussions ongoing at the club over their interest and next steps.

But the 28-year-old is just “one of a number of players under consideration”, the report adds.

Eddie Nketiah could be set for a move away from Arsenal, however, having agreed on personal terms with Marseille, according to Fabrizio Romano.

But the transfers journalist reports that the two clubs are not yet close on agreeing a deal for the striker to leave north London, with discussions ongoing.

Elsewhere, Chelsea have agreed a deal worth around €40m to sell Conor Gallagher to Atletico Madrid, according to the Athletic’s David Ornstein.

The midfielder has reportedly turned down the Blues’ latest contract offer and Spurs are also expected to make a move for the 24-year-old, Sky Sports say, with Gallagher currently weighing up his future.

The Telegraph say Liverpool defender Joe Gomez is considering his future after he was offered to Newcastle as part of a swap deal for Anthony Gordon.

Manchester United, meanwhile, are expected to accelerate their efforts to sign a new central defender and striker after injuries to Lenny Yoro and Rasmus Hojlund, the Daily Mail say.

And Ivan Toney looks increasingly likely to stay at Brentford this summer after the club’s new striker Igor Thiago had knee surgery which will sideline him for most of 2024, the Times report.
