’The connection between the players was not good enough’ – Bompastor after Chelsea draw with Liverpool

Sonia Bompastor admits her side did not execute her game plan effectively enough against Liverpool.

The Blues drew 1-1 in St Helens after Beata Olsson’s equaliser cancelled out Alyssa Thompson’s ninth-minute opener.

It means last season’s champions sit three points behind Manchester City in the WSL, following their win over rivals Manchester United on Saturday.

“I think it was difficult today because the connection between the players was not good enough,” Bompastor said.

“We didn’t always find the spaces we wanted. We spoke before the game, we had a game plan, and we didn’t always execute it the way we wanted to.

“To be fair, I think we knew coming into the Liverpool game that they are a tough team to break down, and they are resilient. They had a really good defensive performance, and yet they made things difficult for us today.”
