Welcome to today’s live blog from the AMEX Stadium as Brighton & Hove Albion host Manchester City in the Premier League.
“We conceded two goals. We were excellent for one hour. After the goal we forgot to play. We were thinking of the consequences.
“I like many, many things we are doing. Like against Tottenham, we started well. I like many things the team has done here today but we were unable to win. When we conceded the goal we stopped playing.
“It’s one game. The season has just started. There is a long, long season ahead of us. We will see what happens.”
“We didn’t really believe in ourselves and didn’t feel we were in the game. The players have to deliver on the pitch and all four subs delivered today. i am grateful for everyone.”
It’s all over at the AMEX!
Brighton beat Manchester City at home yet again!
Man City have the chance to equalise but Tijjani Reijnders heads well wide.
Yakuba Minteh comes off for Diego Coppola.
There will be another seven minutes here at the AMEX.
Brajan Gruda surely has won it for Brighton!
City all exposed at the back, Kaoru Mitoma slides the ball through to Gruda, who sits down the City defence and goalkeeper before passing the ball into an empty net.
Rico Lewis and Ruben Dias are on in place of Matheus Nunes and the injured Khusanov.
Khusanov is now down and needing treatment.
Snapshot from Rutter on the edge of the City box but James Trafford claims comfortably.
A nibble from Joel Veltman on Jeremy Doku and the Brighton defender is booked.
Brajan Gruda does down in the Man City penalty area after Khusanov’s challenge, but nothing is given.
Rayan Ait-Nouri is shown a yellow card. Freekick Brighton in a dangerous area.
James Milner steps up and converts from the spot to bring Brighton level!
Penalty to Brighton for a handball from Matheus Nunes.
A poor challenge from Abdukodir Khusanov on Yakuba Minteh, who is booked.
Carlos Baleba, Jack Hinshelwood, Danny Welbeck and Diego Gomez are replaced by Georginio, Brajan Gruda, James Milner and Yasin Ayari.
What a chance for Bobb to double City’s lead!
Erling Haaland plays through Omar Marmoush, whose neat ball across goal meets Bobb but the youngster’s attempt rolls wide!
Oscar Bobb has some seriously quick feet!
He just jinks through the Brighton defenders like they are not there, but he falls over right at the end.
Back underway here at the Amex.
No changes for either side.
Half time: Brighton 0-1 Man City
Erling Haaland’s goal the difference in a scrappy affair so far. Haaland could conceivably have notched a first-half hat trick given the chances he missed, but City will be pleased to be in front here.
88 goals in 100 Premier League appearances for Erling Haaland, who FINALLY finds the back of the net.
The striker profits from tenacious work from Marmoush on the edge of the Brighton box before prodding beyond Verbruggen. 1-0 City.
Bobb does well and feeds Haaland but again, the City striker cannot trouble the goalkeeper.
City recycle and Ait-Nouri’s cross finds Haaland at the back post and his powerful header is pushed clear by Verbruggen.
Guardiola’s side beginning to find their rhythm.
Great break from the Seagulls leads to Welbeck playing in Mitoma, but Trafford gets down well to turn away his goal-bound effort.
Van Hecke is shown the game’s first yellow card for a couple of crunching tackles on Haaland and Reijnders in quick succession.
