Bruno Fernandes and Bunny Shaw win FWA Footballer of the Year awards

Bruno Fernandes has won this year’s Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year award.

The Manchester United midfielder beat Arsenal’s Declan Rice to the award by a mere 28 votes, with Erling Haaland coming in third.

Fernandes is just one assist away from tying the record in a single season, spearheading United’s resurgence this season.

Meanwhile, Manchester City striker Bunny Shaw has been named the Women’s Footballer of the Year for the second time.

She won the vote by a landslide, having led Manchester City to their first WSL title in 10 years with 19 goals in 21 games.
