In a winter transfer window which renders scarcely believable, Chelsea blasted their rivals away in incredible fashion, splashing out £323m on new talent.
That equates for nearly half of the £780m January spend by all Premier League clubs, more than doubling the expenditure of last season’s winter transfer window.
We take a look at where Chelsea splashed the cash and, in the process, blew their rivals out of the water.
Enzo Fernandez (£106.8m)
In the longest of long running transfer sagas, Chelsea’s recruitment strategists pulled off an almighty effort to sign Argentine World Cup winner Enzo Fernandez from Benfica.
On several occasions during deadline day, the transfer seemed dead in the water as Chelsea and Benfica struggled to reach an agreement on the structure of the deal.
However, with just an hour left of the window, Chelsea finally stumped up the €120m which activated Fernandez’s release clause, smashing the British transfer record in the process.
Mykhailo Mudryk (£88.5m)
A transfer deal that will live long in the memory and one that will surely need expanding on fully in the years to come, Mykhailo Mudryk’s sensational move to Chelsea was completed two weeks prior to deadline day.
With the Ukrainian poised to join league leaders Arsenal, the Blues launched a staggering late bid to lure the highly-rated forward to west London instead, leaving Premier League fans stunned.
Mudryk made his Chelsea debut in the goalless draw against Liverpool at Anfield, showing glimpses of the impact he is expected to make in the second half of this season.
Benoit Badiashile (£35m)
Not content with only strengthening at the top end of the pitch, Chelsea moved quickly to sign French central defender Benoit Badiashile from AS Monaco.
The 21-year-old arrived in west London on a staggering seven-and-a-half year contract to bolster boss Graham Potter’s defensive options and he has immediately struck up an encouraging partnership with Thiago Silva.
Noni Madueke (£29m)
Chelsea completed their sixth signing of an incredible window by snapping up PSV Eindhoven winger Noni Madueke.
The England youth international, who came through the ranks at Crystal Palace and Tottenham, was also signed on a seven-and-a-half year deal with the option to extend for a further year.
Malo Gusto (£26m)
Teenage full back Malo Gusto was signed from Lyon just days before the winter transfer window slammed shut.
Gusto’s arrival took Chelsea’s January spending spree past the £200m mark as the Frenchman arrived on another long-term deal, with the left back remaining in Ligue 1 for the remainder of this season on loan.
Andrey Santos (£18m), David Fofana (£10m) & Joao Felix (£9.7m loan fee)
To complete January’s incredible spend, Chelsea splashed a further £38m on three more attackers.
Exciting young Brazilian Andrey Santos arrived from Vasco da Gama, David Datro Fofana made the switch from Norway, while the high-profile loan signing of Joao Felix from Atletico Madrid went down particularly well with Chelsea fans.
