Chelsea’s James ‘could be the difference maker’ for England

Lauren James could be the key to a successful World Cup for the Lionesses, according to Hayters TV’s women’s football expert Rio Rosenberg.

The Chelsea attacker has enjoyed a breakout season with the Blues, scoring five goals in the Women’s Super League and impressing for Sarina Wiegman’s England side.

Rosenberg was joined by Helen Hardy, founder and CEO of women’s football retailer Foudys, and Eiri Pitman, Foudys’ social media lead – who will be travelling to Australia and New Zealand to cover the World Cup in two weeks’ time.

And the trio believe James’ skillset could provide England with the edge they need to go all the way.

“I think Lauren James will be one to really watch out for,” Rosenberg said.

“I think she brings something different to the England side that we haven’t really seen before.

“She’s so composed on the ball, when she’s dribbling through no one is going to get to her.”

And Hardy continued: “Imagine Lauren James playing as a number ten with Keira Walsh sitting behind, for me the best central defensive midfielder in the world.

“Those two players combining and working together, with the composure of Keira Walsh and the flair of Lauren James.”

They also discussed England’s chances, the absence of key players from previous Lionesses teams, who else could be key to a successful tournament and much more.
