Live updates from Selhurst Park as Man City take on Crystal Palace.

Glasner says Palace did not deserve to lose 3-0

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner: “For me, the result doesn’t reflect the performance. We just have to accept that City were better in the boxes and more efficient than we were.

“This was by far the best performance we had against them, the most competitive, but the result doesn’t show it.”

Guardiola: Foden has margin to improve

“Absolutely, he has a lot of margin to understand the game. He will not improve his incredible quality because he’s top, but understanding the game in certain moments, the way you have to play and sometimes accelerate the game, just the timing and the tempo, everyone has margin to improve.”

Foden not at his best today says Pep

“I think Phil today was not good. He didn’t play at his best. He lost a lot of balls. He was rash in the decisions, so anxious. And he has to play, just keep the ball, be associated with the other ones, and at the right moment make an explosion that only he has in terms of goals and assists.

“But before he arrives there, he has to be more calm. Sometimes he makes the situations not clear but in terms of work ethic defensively, how he presses and how he comes back, it’s invaluable. It’s incredible.”

Guardiola praises his central defenders

“Ruben (Dias) is an incredible leader. Consistent, no injuries, his professionalism. How he leads. He’s an incredible signing for Man City for many years and for many years to come. He’s a real captain, a real leader.

“And Josko today, again, made a top game, didn’t make mistakes with or without the ball and this is the step he has to make.”

Guardiola praises City's fight and resilience

More from Guardiola when asked about the fight his team showed: “When you win in the past, you believe the past was always perfect, always brilliant, always red carpets, always was easier. When we won 100 points and all the titles, we won’t talk about all we achieve because we’ll be too late to go home to sleep, we had a lot of games like today. The resilience was part of that.

“There are moments where you struggle and Madrid was not a perfect game. Madrid was not where you have to be to win important things but it’s a step. We were there. We fought with five in the back in the last moments. We fought unbelievably to achieve that and that builds something, then after we will see.”

Guardiola: Today's win 'a good statement'

Guardiola in his post-match press conference: “Many things we have to improve. Madrid gave me a lot of signals that we are not ready in terms of how to approach certain games because they are young, some players.

“But of course we are really, really pleased because I know how tough they (Crystal Palace) are and to win 3-0 here is a good statement for us.”

Guardiola says Man City 'growing their mentality'

Pep Guardiola speaking to Sky Sports: “It is a really tough place to come. When you lose the ball they attack incredibly well but we were patient. We were lucky when they hit the post from Wharton but really pleased for the performance and victory to grow our mentality.”

Foden says City's patience was rewarded

Phil Foden speaking after City’s win: “The most important thing is patience. I think we maybe tried to attack too quickly. In the second half we did a lot better. That was the key for getting the result today.

“We had more control and more passes that is the City way. It is a full team performance.”
